FLEX-УКРАЇНА 2007-2008.
Ukraine 2007-2008 Academic Year
We are happy to announce that entrance testing for the 2007-2008 academic year has concluded. Selection is underway and results of the competition will be available in April 2007. American Councils will contact all finalists and alternates by mail and phone. Candidates not selected will receive letters in May 2007.
Ukraine 2008-2009 Academic Year
The Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) in Ukraine will hold entrance testing for the 2008-2009 academic year beginning September 1, 2007. FLEX is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, is administered by American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS (American Councils) and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The program provides Ukrainian high school students with an opportunity to study in U.S. high schools and live in American families for one academic year.
FLEX Ukraine will begin recruiting, testing, and selection for the 2008-2009 program year in September 2007.
Below is a summary of the recruiting and selection process for the FLEX program.
Round One:
This year 26 test centers are expected in Ukraine. Recruiters travel to each test center to hold recruiting activities. 9th and 10th form Ukrainian students born from January 1, 1992 through July 15, 1993 are invited to test at the test center most convenient for them. Testing at more than one location, and testing more than once at the same location, is grounds for disqualification from the program. Physically challenged students currently in 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th form and born from March 15, 1990 through July 15, 1993, are also invited to test where convenient, but will be in competition only with each other. To participate in Round One students need to appear at a specific date, time and location that are announced through mailings to Ukrainian schools and through media advertising. Students may also find the schedule on American Councils? website or may contact the Kyiv office to inquire about testing in their region. The recruiting process begins in each test center with a general informational presentation and the administering of the Pretest. The Pretest is a short written test of Basic English. Results of Round One in one test center are typically available the same day as the last Pretests are given.
Round Two:
Those candidates who pass the Pretest take a standardized test of English Reading and Listening Comprehension as well as an in-class essay test on three assigned topics. Round Two is typically held the day after Round One and can take place over one-two days.
Round Three:
Within 4-6 weeks after Round Two, recruiters return to conduct Round Three activities with those students selected by an international committee. These activities include a meeting with candidates and one of their parents or guardians. During this meeting, recruiters give more detailed information about the program, including which expenses are covered for the participants. Applications are distributed and each page explained in detail to candidates and their parents or guardians. Candidates have two weeks from the date of the meeting to complete and return their applications to the Kyiv office of American Councils. Following the meeting, candidates write a second in-class essay test on assigned topics. Additionally, recruiters conduct group activities with groups of 5-8 participants, followed by individual interviews in English and the students? native language.
Post-Recruiting:
After applications are received from all candidates in a test center, Round Three documents are sent to Washington, DC for the selection committee to review. Results of the competition are expected in April 2008. Although there are no available estimates of the number of candidates to be selected in 2008, there were 300 finalists and 45 alternates selected in 2007.
Once results are released, finalists and alternates prepare necessary documents for their U.S. visa and school registration. All finalists are required to attend a Pre-Departure Orientation in June or July 2008.
Finalists selected in April 2008 depart for the United States in August 2008 and return to Ukraine in May and June 2009.

The Polish Robert Schuman Foundation is proud to announce that we are
organising the 3rd International Meeting of European Schools in Warsaw,
from the 22nd to the 25th of November.
The main idea of the project is to create a platform. This platform
would enable cooperation between European Schools, European Clubs, and
other structures which unite students and teachers who are interested in
European issues, from different European countries. This platform would
allow them to meet, exchange experiences and information, discuss their
main activities and the possibilities to establish cooperation between
schools from the various countries. The Meeting will involve youth from
different parts of our continent in the discussions on future of Europe,
show how the European Union functions and encourage them to become
leaders at promotion of active European citizenship at the local level.
During four days of the Meeting the participants will take part in
numerous activities and workshops. They will undergo a training about
the functioning of the institutions of the European
Union, take part in intercultural workshops and discuss the
possibilities of future cooperation between the different schools
involved in the project and participate in a simulation game of the
summit of the European Council, which will enable students to discuss,
negociate, reach compromises and vote on current and important issues of
the European Union.
The Polish Robert Schuman Foundation will cover board and lodging
expenses during the Meeting.
The Meetings will take place in English.
In attachment you will find the description of the project, the draft
agenda of the event, and the application form you can return us, by
email of fax, if you are interested in the project (before the 30th of
september!)

Громадська організація "Ліга культури" пропонує провести акцію "Подарунок першокласнику",тобто подарувати кожному першокласнику книгу Емми Піньковської "Невигадані історії" (вартість книги 7 гр.).Всі історії, описані в цій книзі, про маленьких дітей, які володіють безцінними скарбами, необхідними людям у всі часи. Книга написана для дітей 6-7 років, їх батьків та вчителів. Ознайомитися з книгою можна у методичному кабінеті( методисти В. Мединська, Л. Дмитренко).

Черкаський обласний інститут післядипломної освіти педагогічних працівників рекомендує наступну тему першого уроку: 1-й клас - "Ми тепер не просто діти - ми маленькі школярі"; 2- 4 кл. - "Сторінки книжок цікавих всіх вас доброму навчать", 5-11кл.- "Прийди до серця, Україно,благослови добром мене!".Розробки уроків для 5-11 класів будуть відправлені електронною поштою.
В Інформаційному збірнику МОН України за №№ 19-21, 22-24 (2007 р) надруковано інструктивно-методичні рекомендації щодо організації навчально-виховного процесу у першому класі та вивчення шкільних дисциплін у 2007 - 2008 навчальному році.
Рішенням колегії МОН України від 24.05.07 р. №7-1 - 19 "Про підсумки Всеукраїнського конкурсу "Учитель року - 2007" визначено наступні номінації для конкурсу "Учитель року - 2008":- "Початкові класи"; "Біологія"; "Зарубіжна література", "Історія","Фізична культура".

Український Жіночий Фонд, Український Освітній Центр Реформ, Фонд "Здоров'я жінки і планування сім'ї", Благодійні Фонди "Приятелі Дітей-Україна" і "Приятелі Дітей - США" повідомляють про продовження терміну дії конкурсу "Перший крок до успіху - 2007".
Мета програми - підвищення активної життєвої позиції дівчат - майбутніх лідерок, залучення дівчат до активної участі у громадському житті своїх громад і України в цілому.
Кінцевий термін подання заявок: 27 липня 2007 року
Мета програми - підвищення активної життєвої позиції дівчат - майбутніх лідерок, залучення дівчат до активної участі у громадському житті своїх громад і України в цілому.
У 2006 році у конкурсі взяло участь 275 дівчат. Переможницями було визнано 53 особи. Переможниці відвідали Київ, зустрілися з відомими та успішними жінками, взяли участь у тренінгу з розвитку лідерського потенціалу і ґендерних питань та інших цікавих заходах. Крім цього учасниці програми мали можливість взяти участь у конкурсі проектів для реалізації їх задумів. 6 таких проектів отримали фінансування і зараз реалізуються. Дівчата також були номіновані на участь у програмі обміну, що здійснюється Центром "Відкритий Світ" при Бібліотеці Конгресу США.
Конкурс є частиною програми "Перший крок до успіху - 2007" та проводиться для дівчат віком 16-21 рік. Ми шукаємо дівчат, які відчувають себе лідерками, хочуть сприяти вирішенню актуальних соціальних проблем своєї громади, або досягти позитивних змін у своєму середовищі. Переможниці конкурсу матимуть можливість:
- провести два незабутніх дня у Києві, під час яких познайомитись з жінками-лідерками, що відіграють важливу роль у культурному, політичному, громадському та діловому житті України;
- бути присутніми на Міжнародній зустрічі;
- взяти участь у тренінгових програмах;
- отримати міні-гранти для реалізації власних лідерських проектів і задумів;
- приєднатись до форуму молодих лідерок і спілкуватись з однодумцями;
- брати участь в інших конкурсах та програмах.
Для участі у конкурсі необхідно:
1. Визначитися з практичною ідеєю, реалізація якої покращить життя певної групи людей у вашій громаді.
2. Детально продумати кроки впровадження цієї ідеї.
3. Знайти однодумців і об'єднати їх, використовуючи ваші лідерські навички.
4. Викласти ваші ідеї і плани на папері згідно форми, яку можна завантажити з сайту http://www.uwf.kiev.ua.
5. В описі вашої ідеї, будь ласка, врахуйте:
- реалістичність задуму з точки зору способів та термінів виконання
- інноваційність/нестандартність/новизна підходів та методів виконання
- наявність вашого персонального бачення вирішення проблем
6. Додайте до форми візуальні матеріали, у разі якщо такі необхідні з вашої точки зору.
